Mart Art
Drawing live at sheep and cattle sales, I try to capture an essence of busy mart days through my expressive mark making. My studio is at the Middleton in Teesdale Auction Mart, where, fascinated by this important part of rural community, I began to draw regularly, directly in the noisy and crowded auction ring. My drawings or ‘Mart Art’ made recently on a tour of the main Swaledale ‘Tup’ sales can be browsed or bought here, in the Mart Art Shop.
Useful local terminology: Tup = Ram and Yaw = Ewe
My Eco Home/Studio Build with Hempcrete
I was born in Sunderland but moved south in the 1970’s.Now, 40 years on I have come ‘Back to the North’ to Teesdale where I am about to start building an eco home/studio, using Hempcrete. My blog will document this journey.
